Barcodes, Dubai billionaire and us!
Why the hell can he not come and buy us, if he buys them and spends shit loads as we know he will then it makes it even tougher for us.

We surely have to be a better option due to size of ground, fan base, location (especially) and the team we already have. Instead we get the Daves and their 30m to spend this summer, fucking depressing.

diehardhammer is right its not about rich owners spending their own is't now more about revenues Man.Utd and City now have revenues in the region of about £600 m
.And its alleged that City have achieved this by inflating their sponsorship with their own money.
Liverpool and Chelsea have revenues of around £500m
Arsenal and Spurs are around the £400m mark,

Everton Newcastle and ourselves have revenues of around
£200 m.Leicester must be close to us in financial terms. So these are the clubs we consistently competing with financially.Wolves are new addition so maybe we have to include them as well.

I thought 2021 was the cut off where if they sold there would be no claw back of any of the profit made by the Government.
I’ve always presumed once they can retain 100% they will cash in.
And that if any ARABS came in they’d only be interested if they could buy the stadium at the same time.
And probably the Olympic Park and Westfields

Sullivan the major shareholder said "they won't sell unless it is to somebody like the King of Saudi Arabia who can take it to a level they cannot."

They reckon they turned down a bid of £650m from Redbull.

The two bobs are obviously playing the long game, waiting until they are free of the LLDC caveat in 2020 and government funding runs out at the LS in 2021. London Mayoral election is May 2020 and the new Mayor may well cease funding and sell the LS, moving the Athletics to Birmingham in the new £70m stadium built for the Commonwealth games.

Once the two bobs buy the LS the clubs worth will go up considerably £bn + and they will flip it and sell without putting a penny of their own money in imho. I just hope they don't snuff it before, no point being the richest men in the graveyard.

We’ve already got the cheating A-rabs.
Wish they’d just fuck off out of our football club. Lying scumbags.

On balance I am with those who would prefer not to have either Arab royalty or Russian oligarchs as owners. I grew up on the myth that West Ham was a " family" club. Of course that was an over simplification if not a complete falsehood. The fuedalistic ownership of the Cearns was at it is best when the devolved responsibility was vested in the hands of men of integrity such as Greenwood and Lyall. It became much less benevolent under Cearns Brown combo and of course became a real nightmare with the attempt to move into a model of ownership thought necessary to progress in modern day football. The world of Icelandic high finance nearly saw us out in the cold for good.

When Sullivan and Gold came riding over the hill to the rescue. I was sceptical but ever hopeful. I remain that today. Despite what generously described as over optimistic promises made by men of dubious moral rectitude I think that is preferable to being dependent on the wealth of morally corupt regimes who behead and mutilate and murder their way to secure their wealth.

If my family is to be either obnoctious or murderous I choose the former.

It was 2 or 3 billion they needed for Liverpool

Sports journalist from Newcastle was on the radio and he said his contacts at Liverpool classified these people as 'TIME WASTERS'.

Amazing how West Ham are the only Premier League club that seems to be at risk of sanctions for spending. These sanctions are like music to the ears for Gold and Sullivan. We can't spend any money guv or we'll be in trouble with FFP.

Newcastle for £350m or West Ham for £700m. No brainer for any investor.

If you buy Newcastle, you get their current squad, plus their 50,000 seater stadium, and then then add;
- a £40m goalkeeper
- a £40m right back
- a £40m left back
- a £40m centre half
- another £40m centre half
- a £40m central midfielder
- another £40m central midfielder
- a £40m striker
- another £40m striker

Or you could buy West Ham, and get their current squad. A couple of shops over Romford and a portacabin at Rush Green. Oh and a 100 year lease on an athletic stadium and you spend the same amount.

No brainer. Newcastle is so much better value it's almost incomparable.

This explains it a bit better than i could.

from reading this you can make a loss on one financial year's revenue but you must recover that loss within 3 years otherwise THEN you get in trouble

Again i see what you are saying but our nets spend is about £105m over the last 3 years, Bournemouth and Palace have higher net spends in that time, how is that possible considering our fan base, attendance which also means more people are spending during the match experience etc?

Re: pporter owned "socios"Re: Barcodes, Dubai billionaire and us!
People seem to have forgotten that Financial Fair play now exists and clubs can still only spend a certain amount of their revenue and if they make a loss they have to recover it within 3 years or face a points deduction.

Part of the reason west ham’s budget is only £30m before player sales is because as it stands we make a loss due to the big summer window last year.

Even Man city’s technique of avoiding it by investing in the sponsorship companies is getting scrutinized and that will soon be stopped from happening.

The days where the likes of abramovich and sheik Mansour can come in and spend hundreds of millions on a football club instantly are long gone.

I agree with you , but we obviously have already broken that model time and time again in England and if we want to ever challenge for anything regularly we need one of this multi billionaire owners.

What a curious English fan thing it is whereby those who support a club not owned by oligarchs or rich Arabs are yearning for someone of that ilk to buy their club.

I much prefer the Bundeslig ownership pattern.
